Jackie Lynam is a writer and librarian from Dublin. Her poems have been published in several journals and anthologies, and she has been shortlisted for the Anthony Cronin International Short Poem Award and RTÉ’s The Prompt writing competition. Her writing has also featured in the Irish Independent and on RTÉ Radio 1’s Sunday Miscellany programme. Her debut chapbook Traces: Poems and Essays was published in 2023 and was longlisted for the Carousel AWARE Prize for Independently Published Authors. She received an Arts Council Agility Award in 2024.
She worked in Dublin City Libraries from 1995 to 2025 in several branch libraries as well as in administration roles. Her longest and most enjoyable assignment was in the Dublin UNESCO City of Literature office from 2012 to 2023. Her job involved working closely with writers, publishers, administrators, and publicists in planning, programming, promoting and delivering literary programmes such as One Dublin One Book (formerly known as Dublin: One City One Book) and the Citywide Read for Children. She also assisted with the administration of the 2023 Dublin Literary Award.
In recent years she has interviewed Irish and international writers at many Irish literary festivals including Dublin Book Festival, West Cork Literary Festival, Write by the Sea and Listowel Writers Week.
She has been interviewed on radio and podcasts about her writing. Recently she combined her passion for reading and her excellent communications skills by giving five talks for Dublin City Libraries - Books To Brighten The Winter Evenings, as part of their Wintering Well series.
